WebbHere, we describe the effective use of the ribotyping microbial source tracking procedure to determine the source(s) of Escherichia coliwithin a South Carolina watershed. In this study, 92% of animal-derived E. coliisolates collected were correctly classified as being of animal origin using our existing ribotype profile database. WebbPCR ribotype profiles were analysed using software (Bionumerics, Applied Maths). Antibiotic susceptibility was determined by E-tests for metronidazole, RESULTS: About 48% of C. difficile isolates belonged to ribotype 001/072. So, this ribotype was the most common ribotype in this study.
