No adapter just a male 110/120 cord, it does however have a cover on it and doesn't look at first glance like a regular cord end. Yes you can start driving it immediately after a cold start.

You can access it by removing the trim piece around the tow hook, and removing it from the clip. You can then fish it out of the grill above the bumper for easy access.
